As soon as you hear the iconic phrase:“Cash Money Records taking over for the ‘99 and the 2000's..." you already know what time it is!
Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up" turns 20! This classic jam, which also features Mannie Fresh and Lil' Wayne (when he was in his prime!), was released Feb. 24, 1999.
This song was a cultural wave for different generations. The New Orleans rapper changed the rap game and music industry with this classic and definitely put the South on the map.
I was a 13-year-old who was dropping it like it's hot when this 'Ready, Set, Twerk' song first came out. I remember every time the video came on, I would mimic the older women on TV and try and shake my butt like them, and my mom would always yell at me, telling me to turn that "trash music" off and stop dancing like that. Lol! Good times.
Let's celebrate "Back That Azz Up" and twerk one good time on this lovely Sunday!
