Veteran radio personality Doug Banks passed away earlier today (April 11) after a long battle with diabetes.
Banks was born in Philadelphia but raised in Detroit. He started off his career with local radio and soon after started hosting his own syndicated show, The Doug Banks Morning Show.
DeDe McGuire hosted the show with him and they became one of the best duos on radio. She posted:
"Today I lost a brother, a friend, a mentor, my teacher, a life changer, a RADIO LEGEND...Doug Banks! He passed away today from complications of Diabetes. I worked, traveled, spent holidays with Doug for SEVENTEEN years! I owe much of my success to him! He was THE best, most humble, easy working person I have ever come in contact within Radio."
"As I mourn the loss of my friend and reminisce about our good times, I can only keep thinking of his two beautiful girls. Kennede and Kelly.. My prayers are with you, your Mom and your entire family.🙏🏾 RIP Doug Banks, it was a PRIVILEDGE to work with you! I love you!"
I used to listen to Doug and DeDe every morning on 107.5 FM WBLS, I loved that show!
Banks also hosted radio shows at stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Detroit and also V103, his website says, before he signed on to do a nationally syndicated show.
May he rest in peace!
