Oscars Nominations: 'Straight Outta Compton' Snubbed, See What Ice Cube Has To Say + The Weeknd Earns A Nod
The 2016 Oscar Nominations Are In
Earlier this morning, nominees for this year's most prestigious awards in the film industry, the 88th Academy Awards, were announced.
Straight Outta Compton was thee breakout movie of 2015 and one of the highest grossing music biopics of all time, and somehow, it managed to get snubbed at this year's Oscars.
Remember last year, #OscarsSoWhite trended on Twitter? Well, people are pissed that Straight Outta Compton's only nomination managed to go to white people.
Ice Cube appeared on Wendy William's show shortly after the nominations were revealed this morning. He says he's not pissed or bitter that his movie didn't get more nominations and says he can't be mad about.
"It's the Oscars, they do what they do," he said.
Straight Outta Compton was only nominated for 'Best Original Screenplay.'
Also nominated for an Oscar was R&B singer The Weeknd for his sexy song "Earned It" from Fifty Shades of Grey which earned him a nod for 'Original Song.'
it can't get more surreal than this. thank you for the recognition @TheAcademy . truly a proud moment.
