Raven-Symone Angers Many With Her Spring Valley High School Assault Comments: 'You Gotta Follow the Rules in School'
Raven-Symone added her two cents in on the Spring Valley high school assault news during the round-table discussion on The View.
The co-host talked about the assault and she believes both the police officer and the student are to blame. The officer, Ben Fields, was asked to remove a female student from the classroom who reportedly wouldn't get off her cell phone and was disturbing the class.
Raven-Symon said:
“The girl was told multiple times to get off her phone, there was no reason for him to be doing this type of harm, it’s ridiculous, but at the same time you’ve got to follow the rules in school.”
“He [Ben Fields] was actually sued for false arrest, excessive force and battery in 2007 after a couple accused him of manhandling them,” she said.
“He has a record and he’s still hired, but at the same time, get off your phone.”
People weren’t too happy about what she voiced as her opinion and lashed out on her!
Raven-Symone is not the only one who sympathizes with the officer. Bristol Palin reacted over the officer being fired. New details also emerged on CNN saying the student reportedly hit the officer first. Bristol said in a blog post:
"I can’t believe this, when are we going to look at what KIDS are doing wrong? Instead of instantly blaming police and higher authority?
I know my son would leave a classroom if he was told to, so why didn’t this student? Do parents teach their kids now to question authority? That they must be the victim?
I don’t know the full situation – none of us do, but this just makes me sick. When will parents take full responsibility for their kids, teach them not to act like punks, and listen to AUTHORITY – no matter what their race is."
