Tyra, we were rooting for you!
After a 12 year run and 22 seasons (known as Cycles) Americas Next Top Model will end. The network announced it will not pick up the show for a 23rd Cycle.
The series will air its final season on Dec. 4th (9 p.m. ET/PT).
Supermodel Tyra Banks, who served as ANTM's execitive producer and a judge on the show, posted a lengthy post on her Instagram page including her thoughts about the show ending:
CW presidentMark Pedowitz issued a statement thanking Tyra and her fellow executive producer, Ken Mok , and acknowledging the show's success.
"America's Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks, first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global pop culture phenomenon," Pedowitz said. "I want to thank Tyra and Ken for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the U.S., but all across the world." (via: USA Today)
CW is considering the possibility of broadcasting a retrospective special at some point in 2016.
