Trey Songz Blasts The Grammy's, Says the Award Show Shortchanges Culture for Popularity

Was Trey Songz snubbed at The Grammy's this year?

The R&B singer was not a Grammy nominee this year, despite releasing a No. 1 selling album in 2014.

He took to Twitter last night and said the Grammys "shortchange culture for popularity every year." He also praised his fans, saying they give him a real award that no trophy ever could.

Trey also wants to make it clear that this is his honest opinion and it doesn't come from a place of "salt, shade, envy, etc" as he tweets:

"10 years I been able to feed my family and have the support of so many people, just for doing what I would do anyway for NOTHING. Music"
"So please, don't take this next sentiment as salt, shade, envy, etc. The Grammys shortchange culture for popularity every year."

"I don't rant, this isn't that. TRIGGA #1 album "NaNa" "Touchin Lovin" and "What's Best For You" all #1 on one chart or another. #Grammys ijs"

"My fans give me the real reward no trophy ever could, LOVE. So everytime they give me nothing, I think of you. Thank you, I love you."

According to the Grammy's FAQ page, For the 57th Annual awards, albums must have been released between Oct. 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014. Trey's sixth studio album Trigga was released July of 2014 with the leading hit song "Na Na."

Trey secured his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as Trigga debuted atop the list.

"Na Na" peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 105,000 copies in the United States,  according to Nielsen SoundScan.

So did the Recording Academy Voting Members mess up by not including Trey in such categories: 'Best R&B Performance,' 'Best R&B Song' or even 'Best R&B Album'?

There are a lot of artists and not everyone can win or even be nominated for that matter. But, it does seem like the Grammy's skipped over him.
'Best R&B Performance' and 'Best R&B Song' went to Beyonce for "Drunk In Love" and 'Best R&B Album' winners this year are Toni Braxton & Babyface for Love, Marriage & Divorce.

No hard feelings though, Trey is chilling. Earlier today, he uploaded the cutest picture of him and his nephew:
