Justice has been served for Jennifer Hudson and her family.
The man who was convicted of killing her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew in 2008 was sentenced to life earlier today.
William Balfour, the convicted murderer, was sentenced to three terms of life in prison plus 120 years on other charges, according to news reports.
Balfour was married to Hudson's sister, Julia, and reportedly killed three of her family members in a jealous rage after finding out Julia was supposedly dating another man.
"You have the heart of an arctic night. Your soul is as barren as dark space," Cook County Circuit Judge Charles Burns told Balfour (quote via: Daily News).
Balfour faced a mandatory life sentence. Illinois does not have the death penalty.
