Chaka Khan is now opening up about the death of her close friend Whitney Houston.
She was supposed to pay tribute to the late singer along with Jennifer Hudson during Sunday's Grammy awards, but Chaka left Jennifer alone and instead she tweeted that she's still grieving and it's not appropriate to perform at this time.
Chaka Khan did a recent interview with Pier's Morgan Tonight. She criticized Whitney's mentor, Clive Davis for still hosting his Pre-Grammy awards party after news broke of Whitney's death:
"I thought that was complete insanity," she said. "And knowing Whitney I don't think that she would've said, 'The show must go on,' she's the kind of woman who would've said, 'stop everything! I'm not going to be there.' I don't know what could motivate a person to have a party in the building where the person whose live he had influence so enormously. And whose life has been affected by hers... I don't understand how that party went on."

Chaka also spoke on being a recovered addict herself and explained that she would never arrive for a performance a week before the scheduled date, like Whitney did.
Chaka noted that someone should have been there to supervise Whitney.
"I stand on, whoever flew her out to perform at that party, should have provided someone to be there," Chaka said. "To somehow, keep the riff-raff of the situation. To keep the dangerous people away."
Chaka said she felt like something was going to happen, saying Whitney was so close to the wire.
